Raa Shop – Adelaide

A rather unfriendly and unhelpful staff member attended to my needs which I had already found out about on the phone on 24/12. He insisted if i purchased a premium RAA membership for my son it would have to be added to mine as a direct debit in order to be given the $10 off family discount.Unacceptable regardless if that is the rule as i also have RAA landlord insurance to which these rules don't apply. Unfortunately as there isn't another option for road service and I'm generally happy with the RAA as a member for decades I had to put up with this very stupid condition re giving a family member a RAA membership for Xmas and supposedly getting a rather small discount of $10.Didn't bother arguing as just didn't want to waste my breath.

Don’t buy insurance from RAA. Pretty appalled by the level of service from RAA. Have been long time customers after having been impressed some years ago with their service and prices. Called up a few weeks ago to cancel my car insurance policy. They asked why, we said since the policy is going up by $400 per year we had to shop around given the cost of living these days. Found it cheaper with one of their competitors for more than $50 per month cheaper. My wife asked about getting the policy premium refunded as it was paid one day before we called to cancel it. They said it is paid for the month in advance but our policy is that the customer must provide notice before the day of debit. I called back on my wife’s behalf, wanted to know why out of loyalty the new policy couldn’t be price matched or why also out of loyalty and the fact we have every other insurance with them, they couldn’t just refund the premium. Got told someone would get back to me. Someone did get back to me and I explained the situation. Got put on a short hold after the person spoke with one of their leaders. Explained that it’s against their policy but given the circumstances they will refund us the premium. Was told to wait about 48 hours for it to be returned. 7 days later my wife calls to enquire and gets told the refund wasn’t going to be process as upon investigation, although they usually charge for the month in advance, because we elected a specific date for direct debit, we pay for the month that has just been so we wouldn’t be entitled to a refund. I called back not very happy given we were told we were getting the refund especially since nobody told us the mie process changes when someone wants to pay on a specific date. Again put on hold and then was told I’d need to be called back by the complaints team. The next day I get a phone call from said complaints team and had a long drawn out conversation with the least empathetic, most sarcastic and rude complaints team member I’ve come across. Did not appreciate his sarcasm and arrogance and lack of willingness to listen. Could not recommend more to stay away from RAA. My wife and I will be moving all our insurance to another provider.
